How will I feel when I'm pregnant?

Everyone is different, but hormones can cause lots of changes in your body and the way you feel.

Some mummies may feel tender breasts, get tired easily or feel sick (at any time of the day, and not just in the morning).

Even if you were planning on becoming pregnant, realising that you are pregnant can still come as a bit of a shock, so don’t worry if you feel up and down.

Can I exercise when pregnant?

Yes, staying active is good for you and your baby. It can help you control weight gain, improve fitness,
reduce high blood pressure, improve sleep, and improve your mood. But before you begin an exercise program, make sure you have your health care provider's approval. Especially if you might having pregnancy complications

What should I eat when pregnant ?

We know that morning sickness makes eating and drinking challenging, but a good diet can help you feel so much better, from the inside out.

It’s important to stay hydrated, so try to boost the amount of water you drink each day.

Try and eat at least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day.

Every day, try to include 3-4 portions of carbohydrates. Things like bread, cereal, noodles, pasta, rice and potatoes.

Even better, go for wholegrain or whole wheat varieties. Making sure you're getting enough dairy and Vitamin D means your baby’s bones will harden as they develop. Dairy contains calcium and is found in food like yoghurt, milk and hard cheese.

What other pre-natal vitamins or supplements do I need?

You need to be at your healthiest when you’re pregnant or trying to conceive, so vitamins and minerals are even more important.

Vitamins A, C, D are the ones you need the most, and Iron is also at the top of the list because it needs time to build up throughout pregnancy.

Why should I be taking folic acid tablets?

Folic acid is totally natural and is a really good supplement when you’re expecting. It’s important for helping your baby’s spine to develop, even in the very early stages of pregnancy. It’s best to take folic acid while you’re trying to get pregnant, and continue taking it throughout your pregnancy.

How much caffeine can I have during pregnancy?

Can I drink alcohol while I'm pregnant?

You shouldn’t drink any alcohol at all during pregnancy, as it could be harmful to your baby. By making the positive choice not to drink any alcohol while you’re pregnant or trying for a baby, you can feel confident that you’re helping to keep your baby safe and healthy.

What about smoking and pregnancy?

Confinement is very important for women.Many possible future ailments might arise if improperly done. If confinement is performes perfectly,it will be thegreatest opportunity to reshape a woman's phyique and health for the better.

How to perform good confinement ?

* Have A Proper & Nutritious Confinement Food , Soup and Confinement Drink
* Don’t Consume Cold Drinks
* Get as much rest as possible for a full recovery after childbirth
* Avoid strenuous activities or lifting heavy objects for at least 3 months after childbirth
* Enlist the help by getting Husband/Relative/Helper to take care of you and your baby and do the household chores
* Try no bare feet

Do I have to avoid bathing during confinement period?

It is agreed that bathing in cold water is harmful to the mother, but this myth may have been originated from older times when hot water was not as convenient and from colder climates.

Bathing with warm water can help you feel clean and comfortable while staying hygienic.

Do I have to avoid washing my hair during confinement period?

Myth : Contact with water is thought to cause “wind” to enter the body and lead to headaches and rheumatism later in life.

The truth: It is perfectly fine to wash hair 3 times per week with warm water . But mommy should dry her hair with hairdryer immediately after shower to prevent exposure to cold air.

Can I read or cry?

There is no proof that reading or crying would lead to eye problems. However, TCM experts do hold that the large loss of blood during childbirth may weaken the eyes. This is because blood is related to the Liver, which is associated with the eyes. Regular consumption of Liver-protecting foods, such as Chinese Wolfberries, would help maintain eye health.

Am I able to use fans and air-conditioning?

Myth : As with bathing, any exposure to cool air is said to cause “wind” to enter the body and lead to health problems later in life

The truth: The key here is moderation. In a hot and humid climate, fans and air conditioners may even be essential for preventing heat rash. However, the new mother should not let the fan or air-conditioner blow directly on her.

Is there any food to avoid during confinement period?
